item (mail, documents, parcels, data discs) from mailroom to desk
- desk to mailroom, office to office, building to building. Used

The system consists of 3 main parts:

PoD Secure Send
Staff in the mailroom use secure send
to book in items and produce a tracking label for each item. At
this point you can record contact details for the item, email
requests, checking requirements, contents and condition. The
system can be used even if your network is down, as labels can be
printed and information stored and data sent at a later time.
Delivery
PoD Mobile
Staff would use this to move the items,
using mobile computers, scan the items through each stage of the
delivery process. The data is sent to the website database by
download cradle, wireless LAN or GPRS. Delivery
PoD Website
Tracking and other reports are accessed via
the website which means that anyone can access the tracking
reports via a standard web browser. This avoids the necessity to
roll out specialist software onto each PC.
The website can be placed on a secure remote
web server or your own company network and the website configured
with user names and passwords for those you wish to have access to
the information.
2D barcodes store all the required
information.
Automatic emails keep everyone informed
throughout the whole process and even let them know if delivery
was not possible or if the package has been left with someone
else.
